Hello This is a blog about my 5 month old golden retreiver Bojangles or Bo for short. My husband and I got Bo for his father as a fathers day gift. With in the first few days of there care Bo ended up with a broken front left leg. They did not take him to the vet and by the time we came 3 weeks later and took it upon ourselves to take him to the vet the out look was not good. We decided to keep him since it’s beyond us how such a young dog would get such a serious injury and then they just watched him limp around on a clearly broken leg for 3 weeks! They had named him Sunny but we decided a new home a loving family and a new name so he has become Bojangles. We took him to Edmonton for surgery hoping to save the leg butwice in the there the vet said amputation was his best bet for a long happy pain free life. My husband and I feel so much guilt having given the poor baby to them. We are doing everything we can to make sure he has the best possible life with us! Our children adore him and he has been inseparation to our family with everything he has been through he is still the sweetest most loving animal I’ve ever had the privilege of having join my family!! We got him his ruffwear harness although I must admit I’m having a hard time adjusting it to fit him properly. I worry lots about him and what would happen if he developed cancer or hurt another leg he is after all still so young and what happened to Bo could of been simply avoided by proper treatment and vet care in the first place! Both our regular vet and the surgon made it very clear had he been seen sooner he would not have lost the leg. But I guess I can’t live in the past and can only do what is best for Bo now! Hoping to learn much more about proper care forour little boy we got him the joint food and supplements like the vet told us and as I said have the ruffwear harness.
